Wiltshire police have confirmed that the body of a man located in woodland in the Yarnbrook area yesterday (23/6) has been formally identified as Michael Poulton.

Mr Poulton, aged 60, from the Wilton area, was reported missing on Saturday evening and we issued a public appeal to help us locate him yesterday morning.

Our thoughts remain with Mr Poulton’s family at this time who are being supported by specially trained officers.

At this stage, this is being treated as a sudden, non-suspicious death and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.

As Mr Poulton had been in contact with Wiltshire Police prior to his death, this matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Anyone who has any information regarding this matter is asked to contact us on 101 and quote reference number 54190060348.
