Officers have seized a large number of counterfeit goods from an address in Salisbury.

Whilst attending the address in Devizes Road to arrest a man on suspicion of an unrelated matter yesterday (August 6), officers uncovered counterfeit goods including:

– Designer clothing
– Designer handbags
– Shoes
– Trainers
– Accessories and jewellery
– Cigarettes
– Headphones
– Perfume

A man, who is aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and is currently in custody in Melksham for further questioning.

Sgt Steve Jolley said: “When we attended this address we found what can only be described as an Aladdin’s Cave of counterfeit goods. The amount was so vast that it took two fully loaded police cars to remove it all from the address.

“We have now seized all the items as part of our enquiries as we believe the individual arrested has been selling these counterfeit goods as genuine designer items – he has therefore been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and we will be working closely with Trading Standards as we conduct this investigation.

“I’d like to remind people of the saying ‘if it seems too good to be, true it probably is’ – goods like this that are sold on our streets may at first appear to be a bargain, but they are often untested, unregulated and can be unsafe.”

Anyone with information about this type of crime should call 101 or their local Trading Standards.
