A man from Devon has been charged following an incident at Salisbury Cathedral on October 25.
The charges relate to the attempted theft and criminal damage of the Magna Carta.
Local tourism & information website, Destination Andover, highlighted the amount of traffic going through Salisbury Cathedral maybe thousands a week.
Mark Royden, aged 46, of Devon, has now been charged with attempted theft and criminal damage.
He is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on June 28.
